Many of our courses can be adapted for in-house delivery and can be specifically tailored to meet individual needs.

This course has been designed for students taking their written requirements for the service delivery module in Agriculture. The course has been created to students the toolds to be able to prepare for the forthcoming exams. It will consist of seven training days, made up of three blocks of two days plus a revision training day prior to the November 2017 exam cycle.

  • Composition, types, use, nutritional qualities and function of relevant products
  • Production techniques
  • Product quality
  • Issues relating to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies and Processed Animal Protein as applicable to feeding stuffs and fertilizers.
  • Labelling requirements
  • Importing, exporting and marketing controls
  • Roles and powers of all enforcement agencies
  • Sampling methods and techniques
  • Approval and registration provisions

At the end of this module, the candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • The nature of fertilizer, animal feeding stuffs and pesticide products regulated by trading standards legislation
  • The framework which regulates the supply of such products
  • The responsibilities and liabilities for such products, of those in the distribution chain
  • The rationale behind the regulatory controls
  • A knowledge of feed hygiene and microbiology in order to effectively undertake inspections at feed premises and take feed samples without contamination
