ADASS South West – About US
Welcome to the South West Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, which brings together the regions 15 Directors. The region contains 3 counties that contain 18 districts, most of which are rural and 12 Unitary authorities.
The total population of the South West is approximately 5.659 million. 81% of the population inthe SW is over the age of 16.
As a whole region the SW has the third highest proportion of residents aged 65 years and older. All bar two county or unitary authorities in the SW have more than the English average of population aged 65 years and older, with Dorset Council having the highest proportion of anywhere else and Torbay, Devon and Cornwall also in the top ten of authorities.
