South West Councils has extensive experience in developing and delivering high-quality conferences, bringing together professionals from across local government and the wider public sector to explore key issues, share knowledge and hear from expert speakers.
Our conferences provide an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, gain fresh perspectives and connect with colleagues facing similar opportunities and challenges. Programmes are carefully developed to ensure they are relevant, informative and engaging, with a mix of expert speakers, practical insights, discussion and networking opportunities.
We deliver a range of established conferences throughout the year and can also work with organisations to develop bespoke events around specific themes, priorities or areas of interest. From shaping the programme and securing speakers to managing bookings, venues and the all-important logistics, we can provide as much support as needed to help deliver a successful event.
Our approach is flexible, and conferences can be delivered in person, virtually or through a blended format, depending on the needs of the audience and the nature of the event.

SW Councils and PPMA HR Conference
SW Councils and PPMA work jointly to bring an insightful and interesting day to HR practitioners providing them with practical tools and tips to take back to their place of work.
Pension Managers Conference
The annual conference is aimed at Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Pension Managers and their Deputy/Assistant Officers. Following a virtual conference in 2020, this year we are planning, by popular demand to return to a face to face conference and hope all our pension colleagues are able to join us in Torquay for this phenomenal event, which provides the opportunity to consider a range of current topics and issues.
The conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to:
- Consider a range of current topics of relevance to pension managers and related pension policy issues
- Look ahead to new policies and issues
- Meet the network with others working within similar or related fields
SW Education HR Conference
This annual conference is aimed at HR practitioners working in education. The conference delivers up to date sessions on local government and school teachers’ pay together with updates from the Department for Education.
PA / EA / Administrators Conference
This one-day conference is designed to support personal assistants, executive assistants, and administrators bringing together professionals from across the region for a day of learning, development and connection.
With a programme packed full of valuable CPD opportunities, practical insights and networking, the conference offers the chance to develop new skills, share experiences and build useful professional connections with others who understand the many hats that PAs, EAs and administrators wear.
