Webinars
Join us for our popular webinars. We have delivered a series of 60-minute, topical, interactive sessions as outlined below. Contact training@swcouncils.gov.uk if you have suggestions for additional topics you want us to deliver.
Challenging conversations
Many of us avoid having those difficult conversations we know we need to have. Whether they are at work or at home we can go to great lengths to avoid the upset and discomfort we fear they will create. Knowing what to say is only part of the challenge, we also need to think about HOW to have these challenging but ultimately courageous conversations and this workshop will consider the key elements of conducting these in a positive and constructive way.
Challenge V Support
Push too hard and you can get burn out, disengagement and dissatisfaction. Go to softly and you end up with a cosy club where people coast, underperform and take everything for granted. This workshop looks at the balancing act that leaders, managers and individual need to strike in order to perform at their best.
Coaching models and techniques
There are many elements to leading a successful and high performing team. Empowering individuals to make their own choices and decisions is a big part of this. This workshop looks at coaching in teams and shares some models and ideas that can help accelerate performance for individuals and your collective team.
Developing feedback skills
Effective feedback is a vital tool in improving performance. Too often it is done badly or for the wrong reasons and the result is counterproductive and causes a decrease in confidence and performance. This workshop looks firstly at why and how we can provide valuable feedback in a way that adds real value.
Exploring your team’s culture and how it links to productivity
How people react to change
The past year has demonstrated just how unsettling change can be and how important it is to understand the human impact of change. This session looks at how people respond to change and what we can do to support them effectively to accept and move forward with change rather than against it.
Leadership and the Power of Story
We explore our favourite stories, what they mean to us and how we can use them to articulate and better understand our values. We also look at 6 types of story, crafting our own to create our own sense of identity and help define our approach to Leadership and inspire others.
Mental Health MOT – Must Offer Time
Our mental health requires exercise in exactly the same way as our bodies. This webinar looks at what we mean by mental fitness and how we can build our own and support those around us during these challenging and uncertain times – it doesn’t happen by itself we Must Offer it our Time.
Supporting People Through Change
The pandemic has demonstrated just how unsettling change can be and how important it is to understand the human impact of change. This session looks at how people respond to change and what we can do to support them effectively to accept and move forward with change rather than against it.
The Challenge for Men
The most common cause of death in men under 50 is suicide. Men commit the majority of violent crime and 95% of the prison population are male. This workshop looks at some of the deeply concerning outcomes for men in society and just as importantly what we can do to help make our workplace a better place for everyone.
The neuroscience of human behaviour under pressure
Understanding what is happening in our brain when we are in ‘fight or flight’ mode can have a huge impact on our ability to regulate our own behaviour and the behaviour of others. This workshop looks at a variety of models and ideas about how to explain what happens and what we can do to keep ourselves calm and help diffuse and de-escalate emotional situations.
The Power of NLP and Positivity
There is always a space between stimulus and response and by changing the way we think we can change the way we feel and perform. This workshop introduces the world of Neuro Linguistic Programming and gives some tips on how positive thinking really can help us re-programme our thinking and behaviour for the better.
Reaping the Benefits of Remote Working
Working from home has increased exponentially over the past months and with the Government’s recent announcement, many people are set to be working from home for at least the next six months. This is now becoming embedded as an effective permanent approach rather than a temporary solution to a crisis. There are huge benefits to working in this way and in this webinar we will explore these and look at social and psychological contracts, maintaining contact with others and working collaboratively.
