SW Local Authorities Members and Governance
South West Councils works to promote the interests of the South West. The core membership is formed of the 33 county, unitary and district councils in the South West.
Each local authority nominates an elected Member, normally the Leader, to South West Councils. An additional 10 non-voting members are appointed taking account of political balance across the South West. The membership meets at least twice a year. The meetings provide the opportunity to share information and best practice as well as undertake constitutional business. South West Councils was established in its current form in April 2011.
South West Councils also works jointly with the Trade Unions at SW Provincial Council.
